Ian McNeice, British TV legend, spoke to MEAWW about the worldwide appeal of “Doc Martin” and what to expect from what could be the show’s last season.

“I have heard the rumor of the show ending after this next season. Although we are dreading it, I think we have to start season nine with us thinking that will probably be the case.  . . .   I think Martin Clunes would like to see it end on a high so I think it will probably be the final season.”

  1. Why would you want to end a good thing and a cash cow? We don’t watch anything else Martin Clunes is in as it doesn’t interest us.

  2. I have high hopes it will continue beyond Series 9 – depends on the writers’ instructions from BP, because I think when all is said and done, that is what will drive the story line. Some drastic changes need to done, perhaps a move from the present Surgery, a strong guest with appearances on one or two episodes, bring back either Louisa’s parents and/or DM’s mom. The Bert & Al Large situation needs something, but I don’t know what.
