I thought that at first also. However, I think this was the way to get Ruth into the storyline. Joan really did love Martin and showed it in many ways during her life. Ruth is a wonderful character and adds a lot to the cast.
Just a note to John Russell through Karen. I just listened to the song you wrote and had recorded during your trip tonNashville. Beautiful. I didn’t know you wrote songs. My daughters are also song writers. Too bad I could not meet up with you and Pam when you were here. Might go back to Port Isaac in 2017 if the do a season eight.
Thank you, Karen, for all your posts and for keeping us up to date. I love you ALMOST as much as I love Martin Clunes. My heart yearned to go to to Port Wenn for the filming of season 7. Just so darned expensive to get there from NC. I’m excited and looking forward to seeing all the episodes, probably numerous times. I’m a young 76 and this is the first time I have ever had such an addiction!
Well, I watched the last episode of Season 7 last night. Of course, I cried at the ending. Seems that I waited forever to see Season 7, and then it went way too quickly. I’m a bit sad that it is over. Karen, will you continue with your Fan Fiction? I haven’t read the latest one yet, but, I look forward to getting my “Doc Martin” fix! Thanks, Karen.
Hi, yes, I wish there were many more episodes in the seasons. If you can, send in a video this morning. Details on karengilleland.wordpress.com
I’ve been busy and haven’t written stories for a while. Maybe over the holidays. Thanks for your encouragement.
No spoiler alerts for us here in the U.S. please!
Hi Jill, I understand your concern. May I suggest that you ignore any notices from this blog site until after S7 has aired in the States. There’s always a chance that reader comments or articles that I post may touch on events in S7. Please check in after you’ve seen all the episodes.
Season 7 won’t be on PBS for a while and I haven’t bought it through Acorn, so please don’t give away any details. I am looking forward to season 7 in January which is when I read that it would be aired on local PBS stations in the U.S.
I would llike to no when the Doc airs in Australia
Hi Dave, I’m sorry, but I haven’t had any word on that yet. I did inquire a month or so ago, but was told at that time, no one knew when it would air in Australia. As soon as I hear anything, I will post the information.
According to actor Ian McNeice, interviewed by (US actor) Marion Ross for KCET-TV (Southern and Central California PBS station) during their pledge drive January-February 2016.
I can tell you now, Marion, but we are very fortunate with the fact that only recently we heard that ITV are going to commission two new Doc Martin Seasons [Series 8 and Series 9]: We will have one in 2017 — and one in 2019. We are very excited about that. Yes. _ In 2017 and 2019, we are filming in the village of Port Isaac from the end of March to the end of July: Both those years. Come and see us.
I have seen Series 7 on ABC TV, it was excellent and I am getting DVD.
Now I have to wait for 2017 and 2019, HELP I have to wait I will go crazy can we get them to speed it up that would make me excited alot, Doc Martin best show on TV Yes I would love to viset Port Isaac one day God willing.
It’s long way from Tasmania Aus.
Hello all!
I just read your reviews of S7, so far. Loved them. Thanks for doing it. I know it can be tedious to watch them over and over. (NOT!!!)
I was wondering if you have reviews of S1 and forward. I would be very appreciative.
Thanks!
Ted
Hi Ted, I just started doing reviews in Season 6: https://karengilleland.wordpress.com/2013/10/07/doc-martin-is-back-s6e1-review/
I had just run across the show in the spring of 2013, so it was the first review I’d ever written and is at the very beginning of my blog.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAREN! Many happy returns of the day!
You are so amazing to remember it each year!!! Thank you very much.
Happy Birthday, Karen! Have an extraordinary day today!🎂💐
Are you planning to write more chapters? It’s been a long time since your last one. Yours are my favorite Fan Fiction.
Do you intend to return to Cornwall during the filming of series 8 in 2017?
Hi Mary, thanks for your note and kind words about my FanFiction. At this point, I’m not sure when I’ll post another story. I don’t think I’ll be returning to Cornwall for the filming of Series 8, although it was great fun and I have wonderful memories from my trip last year.
Karen — a bit off-topic: I have neither a TV nor TV service. Is it possible to get “Acorn TV” service to play on my laptop? If so, is it the same price as Acorn TV which is to be played on a TV? I’m sure you can easily imagine how eager I am to see Season 8 of Doc Martin. I really, really do not want to have to wait until it finally is available for purchase on a set of Season 8 videos.
Hi Sally, yes, I have watched Acorn TV streaming shows on my laptop. The price was the same. Go to acorn.tv and click on free trial. See if that works for you.
Hi, during monitoring a very, very, long session of an ETL procedure, I read your FF stories and I found them very enjoyable. Thanks for them and… I hope you can offer us new ones.
Thanks Rob! I appreciate your comments. I haven’t had much time of late to write any new stories, but I really enjoyed doing them when I had a chance.
Happy Birthday, Karen!
Thank you, Tina. What a lovely surprise.
You’re very welcome, Karen.
I hope this years’s season of Doc Martin will inspire you to write more Fan Fiction. I have truly missed them.
Be well.
It’s March 14th 2022. Happy birthday, Karen! All the best and many happy returns of the day. Cheers!
P. S. Can’t wait for Season 10 of our favorite Doc Martin!
Tina, you remembered again!! You are the best fan ever. Thanks much. You might want to take a look at the short story I wrote in connection with my mystery novel. If you read it, let me know what you think. You’ll find it at the bottom of this webpage: https://hopediamondmysteries.com Look under “Free Stories.”
It will be interesting to see how the story line develops. You’re right about the fact that I lost my inspiration a bit since S6. The romance seemed to disappear from the series. I hope it’s reinstated this series.
Hi Karen, just an update. I followed your suggestion to subscribe to Acorn and as a result I have not only ‘caught up’ on the seasons I missed but reviewed the entire series. Back up to speed on all the latest episodes. Hope you’re doing well. Much Love from black out prone California.
