“Doc Martin” Series 6: Where Are the Giggly Girls?

What has happened to the giggly girls who sat in front of the “Doc’s” surgery and paraded through Portwenn in the first five series of “Doc Martin”?

The girls played an interesting role, picking at the “Doc’s” insecurities (S1E6: “I’m bleeding . . . oh, he’s gonna puke.”) and troubling his conscious (S4E2: “New girlfriend? Use a condom this time.”) The girls were the only characters against whom the “Doc” could offer no defense.

We haven’t seen the girls in the first four episodes of Series 6, and several people have asked why. I have sent a question to ITV and will post an answer when received.
